Till today, these two sacred poems form part of a regular routine of many Sanatani families. According to SSDPD, a significant manner in which the core values of Sanatan were retained by our ancestors was through reciting Hanuman Chalisa and Ramayana.

The body representing the Sanatan Dharma as its flag bearer is Shree Sanatan Dharma Prantinidhi Sabha of Fiji (SSDPS Fiji), which was formally established in 1958. However, as time has elapsed, the number of people belonging to the Sanatan Dharma in Fiji have declined, and this poses a threat to the growth and prevalence of the faith in this country. Today, Ramcharitramanas is the most widely recited Hindu scripture in Fiji, with a lot of Ramayana Mandalis established for the purpose of preaching the content and teachings of this sacred granth.

Amongst these was the Tulsikrit Ramcharitramanas, the version of Ramayana which was translated from Sanskrit by Goswami Tulsidas, a very wise poet of the 16th century. Amongst other things, our ancestors brought with them materials, that reminded them well of their spiritual connection to their motherland. The Girmitya community, more prominently known as the indentured labourers from India, landed in Fiji between May 1879 and November 1916.
